Long Island Water (beaches/baths & Baby)

The upside of living on and Island is that it’s surrounded by water. (there’s a quotable) We’ve had a lot of fun taking Colette to the Fire Island Light House – (several times actually). Last week we wanted to take her again but Field 5 of Robert Moses was closed from the hurricane damage – so we parked at field 3 and walked to field 5… you Long Islanders will appreciate why we didn’t want to walk to the light house after that. Colette loves being at the beach… now that I think about it we’ve been there every week for going on 5 weeks now – one night we switched her white noise app (yeah, we’re geeks) to a beach noise… and instead of falling to sleep, she stared giggling and moving her arms and legs fast.

Sam’s Beach Tweet: Dear little boy babies… Colette loves really long walks on the beach. This will be good to know in about 25 years when she can date.

We also finally took a day trip to went to Montauk where we walked around the shops and spent time at the Point Lighthouse. Colette has been really fun to take around – she loves the beach and enjoys looking around constantly.

Colette visits Wildlife & Ecology Center

Having a baby is a ticket to new and different adventures. – Some of them are scary (I do sometimes sent pix of poop bombs to teenage guys for kicks) some of them are adorable (like watching a line form at Panara of older women who want to see the baby’s feet) and some are just normal fun. – Today (Saturday) we took Colette to the Wildlife & Ecology Center in Brookhaven. It was a case of parents having more fun than the baby, but it was fun to be with family and to see some animals up close and personal. – Highlights – me trying to convince people that there was a weekly raffle to win a free baby goat (a kid?)… no one fell for it. Army John trying to disobey all signs (feeding forbidden things… etc) Noah staring down the black bears. – A fun time.

Colette Life Tour Weeks 5-6 :-)

Still almost a week behind in posting pictures – but this was an eventful week. The Sutter family came to visit from York. We visited Northport Village, Caumsett Park (again) and Planting Fields Arboretum State Historic Park

Colette’s Third Week

So we all made it three weeks now – here are some new pictures. The weather on Long Island has been amazing this week giving us a change to explore the Village (and almost run into the lead singer from AC/DC) and Caumsett Park (I love that place!), and spend some time Melissa, Jamie, and Noah. It’s been pretty fun.

Wake Up Colette….zzz

I have long been under the impression that babies were easily woken. As if the sanity of both parents and child were ever threatened by even the smallest auditory invasion. Colette… not so much. Once she falls asleep… it’s actually quite tough to wake her. Here is an edited version of her morning routine… (it actually takes her a bit longer to wake up than I imagined any viewers have patience for)

Colette’s First Week Home :-)

We’ve made it one week home with Colette. Thought about having a 1 week graduation party… for Colette’s parents. Ashley is a really wonderful mom, and we’ve been thankful to have Grandma (MeMe?) over for a couple nights to help Colette sleep at night – it’s been a fun adventure so far. Enjoy the pix.

Colette’s fourth day (Monday)

Mondays are nice at our house. After her first night home (not a ton of sleep), Colette spend her first day getting to know the surroundings and animals, furniture, routine (hopefully?) and people who are a part of our home. Also she learned that she has to play the piano… it’s grand.

Day 3 with Colette – Mothers Day/Coming Home/House Tour

My twitter status read: “On mothers day normally I pick up a card… maybe flowers… today I’m picking up a mother and a new baby… I’ve really outdone myself this year.”

It was a great day – we were discharged from Huntington Hospital and returned around noon just Church was letting out. Colette was amazing - it was fun to watch her eyes explore the new sights and sounds of her new world. Lots of great stories to be told.
