]]> Our youth group kids are hilarious – a couple weeks ago we had (for Columbus day) a Video Scavenger Hunt around Huntington Village. It seemed like an appropriate way of honoring a famous explorer. I’m really thankful to the leaders, especially EmLam who made it all happen – but enjoy these – our kids are hilarious.

]]> I have long been under the impression that babies were easily woken. As if the sanity of both parents and child were ever threatened by even the smallest auditory invasion. Colette… not so much. Once she falls asleep… it’s actually quite tough to wake her. ]]> Mondays are nice at our house. After her first night home (not a ton of sleep), Colette spend her first day getting to know the surroundings and animals, furniture, routine (hopefully?) and people who are a part of our home. Also she learned that she has to play the piano… it’s grand.

]]> It’s true – among many other visitors Easter week we had two very big domestic turkeys sauntering through our front yard. Ashley was locked the door because being paralyzed by her fear of birds. Sam’s inclination to chase live food items made him run around trying to catch a turkey to eat. And Mikey always assumes that every creature is a fun-loving puppy to play with.

Turkey makes Mikey the Dog very tired… yes… this is Mikey looking sleepy… you should see him when he looks awake.

]]> image That’s right, we just celebrated 6 months of blissful married life :-) Last week was pretty sweet – we had just returned from our youth group’s Avalanche retreat at Camp Spofford – (maybe more about this later ) – Since Sam planned Valentines day, Ashley planned a day in the city – actually the second day in NYC last week, but anyway – it the show was amazing, the music was breathtaking and the props and acting was captivating.

Then we hit up Cafe Lola for an early dinner – famous for being in… You Got Mail… Szymon’s favorite movie of all time.  It was a sweet time, seriously though – it’s been cool for me to think about how happy we both have been to be together, God has really been good to us to give us each other. image

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

Last night we watched the new movie based on the F. Scott Fitzgerald short story. I thought about writing about it, but one of my friend beat me to it. But I will at least comment that new Deer Park Tanger Outlet movie theater is pretty sweet.

‘Ars longa, vita brevis’, is the Latin saying– Art is long, life short, but it is not always true. In ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’ (PG-13), the ‘ars’ is rather ‘longa’, 167 minutes to be exact, which in some ways is a surprise since it is based on an F. Scott Fitzgerald short story, but it is worth every moment of it. This movie involves an all star cast (Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton amongst others), and a tale of epic proportions, reiminiscent in some ways of Forrest Gump in terms of its full life sweep and its decidedly southern setting (filmed and set in New Orleans, for the most part, Brad’s recently adopted home town). The movie tells a story whose arc goes from 1918 until 2004 and Hurricane Katrina. Such is the curious life of Benjamin Button who is born old (though in the form of a new born) on the outside and gets progressively younger as the movie goes along, but on the inside he is aging normally, and finishes as an infant with dementia.
