חָנֵּנִי אֱלֹהִים כְּחַסְדֶּךָ כְּרֹב רַחֲמֶיךָ מְחֵה פְשָׁעָי׃
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love ; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. (Psa 51.1)
I remember hearing about some subway graffiti spotted in New York – someone wrote (I guess a Christian graffiti artist?) “Jesus Is The Answer ” – someone later scrawled underneath – “But to what questions? ” – It struck me when we lack joy in our salvation it is often because we forget what we have been saved from. (Hence the reposting of Embracing Accusation from Yesterday. )
So, in preparation for the Easter season, I’m going to try and read very slowly through Psalm 51 and think a lot about confession and how desperately I need to trust in Jesus’ death on the cross and how much I gain hope through the resurrection.
