Running Scared

image Tonight at youth group we’re talking about fear. I found some good thoughts in  Ed Welch’s book, Running Scared.

Fear is speaking and we should listen… There is a logic – a language – to fear and anxiety, just as there is to most emotions. Anger says “You are wrong.”  Embarrassment or shame says, “I am wrong.” Fear says, “I am in danger,” but it also says much more.  Ed Welch, (37)

Answer me when I call to you,

O my righteous God.

Give me relief from my distress;

Be merciful to me and hear my prayer.

How long, O men, will you tern my glory into shame? (David, Ps. 4.1-2a)
